West Seattle Shows Up: A Polar Plunge to Remember

The Seattle Polar Plunge & 5K Run was more than just a fundraiser — it was a powerful moment of community for Special Olympics Washington West Seattle.
Thanks to the incredible support of our athletes, families, friends, and local donors, our West Seattle team raised nearly $5,000 to help rebuild and sustain our local program.
That support matters deeply.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward building year-round opportunities for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities here in West Seattle — supporting essentials like uniforms, practice space, equipment, permits, and the foundational costs required to grow a sustainable program.

We are especially proud to share that our West Seattle team was the top fundraising team at the event, and that Gavin Flajole was the top individual fundraiser overall, raising an incredible $2,150.
We also want to extend heartfelt thanks to Tricia and Gavin Flajole for designing and donating our West Seattle Puma team t-shirts. Seeing our athletes, families, and supporters wearing them with pride was a powerful reminder that this program is rooted in community. Your generosity and leadership helped us show up as a unified team — and it did not go unnoticed.
To everyone who jumped into the water, ran the 5K, donated, shared our posts, or cheered from the sidelines — thank you.
This event marked an important step forward for Special Olympics West Seattle. We are rebuilding something meaningful, sustainable, and rooted right here in our neighborhood.
And because of you, we are off to a strong start.
We’re just getting started — and we can’t wait to see what we build together next.
