Spring Swimming Program

Our swimming program is all about building confidence, strength, and independence in the water.

Designed for athletes of all ability levels, this spring season focuses on developing skills, improving technique, and creating a supportive team environment where every athlete can grow at their own pace.

Whether someone is new to swimming or looking to continue building on their experience, this is a great place to start.

How the Season Works

The spring swimming season includes regular practices and the opportunity to participate in regional competition.

Athletes are grouped by ability level to ensure a fair, supportive, and positive experience for everyone.

Participation in competition is encouraged but not required—every athlete’s journey looks a little different.

What to Expect:

Athletes will participate in structured practices that focus on:

  • Water confidence and safety

  • Stroke development and technique

  • Endurance and individual progress

  • Goal setting and personal achievement

Coaches provide guidance and encouragement every step of the way, helping athletes feel comfortable, capable, and proud of their progress.

Who It’s For

  • Athletes ages 8+ with intellectual or developmental disabilities

  • All experience levels welcome

  • Families and caregivers are encouraged to be part of the experience

How to Join

  • Before participating, all athletes need to be registered through Special Olympics Washington.

  • Once registered, we’ll help connect you with the West Seattle swimming program and guide you through next steps.

Swimming is more than a sport—it’s confidence, independence, and celebrating every win along the way.

Reach out with any questions or to learn more—we’re here to help you navigate how to get involved.
